John Hart

President and CEO, Lumetrics®, Inc.

John has over 40 years of senior management, general management, business development and engineering experience with Fortune 500 firms such as Bausch & Lomb and Allergan. John also has extensive knowledge in the formation of new companies and has led startup companies with the development of Lumetrics®, ASE Instruments, and Holotek, all companies in the field of Optics, Photonics and Imaging.

John was an early board member of the Rochester Regional Photonics cluster (RRPC), a not for profit trade association, and is its current Board President. From its inception the RRPC is now internationally recognized as the preeminent optics organization in the world and has been a driving force in establishing the Western New York region as a leader in these fields. In addition, John is chairman of the board of directors of the state wide photonics organization-New York Photonics that is instrumental in guiding university and company growth throughout the state. John is also chairman of the board of Lumetrics® and was chairman of the board of the Infotonics Technology Center, a New York State Center of Excellence. John was awarded a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University.

In March of 2003, John and his 3 other founding partners successfully licensed novel technology from the research labs of Eastman Kodak and formed Lumetrics® to develop and commercialize a series of products.




Filipp Ignatovich, PhD

Chief Technology Officer, Lumetrics®, Inc.

Filipp was originally born in Russia, where he attended the Moscow State University as a Physics major. He consequently moved to the United States and was accepted into the Optics PhD program at the University of Rochester. He worked in the nano-optics group of Lukas Novotny, developing an interferometer-based optical sensor for nanoscale particles and biological agents (viruses).

Filipp joined Lumetrics® immediately after obtaining his PhD Optics in 2006. He helped Lumetrics® scale initial development efforts into an advanced R&D entity, with funding provided by governmental agencies (NSF and NIH) and drove several projects aimed at developing and commercializing new high-tech medical instruments.




Steve Heveron-Smith

VP Business Development and Marketing, Lumetrics®, Inc.

Steve has over 25 years of experience in product management, marketing, business development and sales in the medical, industrial, and telecommunications field. Steve has expertise in defining customer problems, working with engineers to develop novel system solutions, and then deploying those solutions back to the customer.

Steve is one of the founders of Lumetrics®, a specialty measurement company, with solutions especially tailored to the medical industry. Lumetrics® has invented and proven an accurate noncontact measurement system designed to improve quality while reducing cost and product cycle time in medical devices, optics, and industrial materials markets. Steve was responsible for building the business case and developing the market and sales channels for Lumetrics®. He has been the primary sales and marketing force behind moving this new product into the market.

Steve was a senior product manager and senior business development manager with Nortel Networks and Computer Consoles and was responsible for the full product life cycle of all audio-based directory products and for global P&L, including product requirements, business case and market analysis, product planning, partnership negotiation, project management, documentation, training and implementation.

Steve is the Treasurer of the state wide photonics organization-New York Photonics that is instrumental in guiding university and company growth throughout the state. Steve graduated with a B.S. summa cum laude in Business Administration from Rochester Institute of Technology, and served four years in the U.S. Navy.




Steve Kelly

Vice President of Sales, Lumetrics®, Inc.

Steve joined Lumetrics®, Inc., in October 2010 as the Vice President of Sales. Steve has over 30 years of experience in sales, sales management, product management, and marketing in the industrial, electronics and consumer product fields. Prior to joining Lumetrics, Steve was the Strategic Business Manager for the Vision Accessories business unit at Bausch + Lomb for over 9 years. His experience includes driving revenue and developing marketing and selling strategies along with new product development.

Steve’s previous positions include Sales and Marketing Manager for the Electronic Assembly and Military Magnetics business at CEN Electronics, Director of Sales and Marketing at Monroe Electronics and Western Regional Territory Manager for Kapital Instruments.

Steve holds an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration from M.V.C.C., a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a MBA degree, both from St. John Fisher College.




Susan Baier

Director of Finance, Lumetrics®, Inc.

Susan joined Lumetrics® in April 2006 as Director of Accounting & HR. She began her accounting career in the telecommunication industry in Arlington, VA. Upon moving to Rochester, Susan continued her career at Rochester Telephone and Frontier Communications. Her diverse accounting experience also includes positions at a tax accounting firm, an insurance company and KMP Media.

Susan holds an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration from Cayuga Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from SUNY Oswego and a Masters of Accounting from The George Washington University.
